Impression:
When you air a pilot for a television series one must display a show’s star(s), story, and unique qualities and the first episode of Go On did just that. I will be the first one to tell you that I tuned into Go On for Matthew Perry. Not only is he hilarious, but I believe that Matthew Perry carried F.R.I.E.N.D.S. with his unique acting skills. I was very glad to see that this show was utilizing classic Perry even though you can tell that Go On is going to get a little more serious than his last sit com. I also look forward to what I think will be a very interesting relationship between Matthew Perry’s character Ryan King and Owen, played by Tyler James Williams, who was the lead actor in Everybody Hates Chris. Next you have the story which I think is very “now.” What I mean by that is the fact that the story revolves around people using therapy to deal with loss and therapy has really become a mainstream thing in today’s western society. I really like the fact that something so relatable is being used as a pillar of this show and it will help grab a big audience. Finally, what I believe will make this show unique is how it differs from most other current comedies. The first few minutes hit us hard with a major loss for the main character Ryan King. The show is trying to give us something more than a few quick laughs and I appreciate that.
Current Opinion of the Show:
I really enjoyed the Go On pilot and feel excited for more episodes.
