Impression:
Even though I was not the biggest fan of this episode, it definitely gave us a lot of the plot progression that we needed. On the quest to save Okuni, Roman and Suzuki run into each other. The three end up having to trek through an underground passage which makes Suzuki very curious regarding the origin and purpose of this man-made structure. We find out that the tunnels are used by the Rebels which is the name of the mysterious organization that Okuni works for. This is where the progression comes in because we now know there is the possibility of five forces fighting over the future of Japan. The foreign and Japanese forces themselves exist even though I assume we will not being seeing Japan’s main force in many of the episodes. Then we have the groups that our three power houses belong to. Roman is the Helper who rolls with his oddly capable group for the betterment of Japan. The rebels are composed of what I assume are a mix of Japanese and foreign forces that are out to take down Japan from the inside. Finally, we have the Oniwaban group that Suzuki is a part of and one should assume that Suzuki fights for Japan, although a possible conflict with the Japanese government could complicate things. All in all, we got to see more weapons and Suzuki has been alerted to the fact that Okuni is more than she appears to be.
Current Opinion of the Show:
This series is showing a lot of good things. Although I see it as a longer series so things may take a bit to fully develop, I can tell that they are building up to quite the confrontation. I am really interested in seeing more of the Rebels and the Oniwaban group because we have already been introduced to Roman’s crew. I could do without the fan service, but that won’t really change. I look forward to seeing an altercation between our three main fighters.
