Impression:

I am losing interest in this series. Honestly, I didn’t sign up for a murder game with more sexual situations than death. I just have a problem with it I guess. I mean, I am used to animators throwing anatomically impossible breasts at the viewers, but I have to draw the line somewhere. My line is drawn at repeated up skirt shots because I find them to be completely unnecessary. Now, an Instead helping an Author with a book that hangs people by passing out from the sheer ecstasy of being choked out is an idea that passed over the line that I drew about two hundred miles back. When it happened, I knew that they animated it in an overly sexual manner, but I didn’t think that they would actually explain it in such a way. Honestly, not a lot happened in this episode. We had Kiri and the gang heading to a place that Iwai’s dad used to frequent which gave off a crazy feel. A blind chick played the piano, our main characters got chills down their spines, and we met the guy with a false sense of justice. That is pretty much it. Well, we had a one month time skip and Kiri has befriended the Byouinzaka sisters, but neither of those things were unexpected events. Oh, we got an explanation that I desperately needed. I wanted to know how all of this murder business was getting past the police. I mean, rich people can only do so much. Apparently, the higher-ups in the police department are in on the whole thing. That is probably the most normal thing that happened in this episode. I don’t want to sound like a murder junkie, but can we see some more fights? It seems like half of the authors aren’t trying to kill Iwai and we spend more time watching soft core pornography than anything else. I would expect a fight in the next episode if it wasn’t giving off such a strong romantic feel.

How is this a killing good?

Current Opinion of the Show:

I am not too happy with what I have seen from this show lately. I have already stressed the fact that I am not into the fetish stuff that they are throwing at us, but that might just be me. Let me say something really quickly. I know that this is meant for a niche audience, but I felt much less turned off by oddly sexual situations in Mirai Nikki than I am right now. Onto the murderous side of things, I am on the fence about the new authors. One reads out crimes that have been committed and a noose appears, while the other can kill you by playing a full song on a piano. I know that I really shouldn’t be questioning the realistic value of cursed objects, but I think that they are going against what has been established. Scissors, a sledgehammer, and poison injections are all plausible murder weapons. I know that legal executions are the excuse for the book and noose, but I have no idea what the reasoning behind the piano is. I just feel that they established something that was plausible and they decided to scrap the idea. I don’t know, that might just be me again. My last complaint is regarding Kiri. They did that thing where they take a still of a character in a strong pose and make it look like a painting for him, but I just couldn’t take that seriously. Maybe it’s the scissors, maybe it’s the hair fetish, regardless of the actual reason, I just can’t take Kiri seriously. I don’t know if this series is trying to be serious or not. If they are, then they are doing a very poor job of it. Things that I like? I will get back to you on that one. I guess that I am looking forward to more killing that may nor may not actually happen.

  1. That is EXACTLY how I feel about this anime too! I just have to mentally prepare myself before I actually watch it because I know the strangeness that it’s loaded with. I’m turned off by the fetishes, fan service and Iwai. I just can’t wrap my mind around the concept of why Dansai had to be so exaggerated with its plot.
And a piano??…-__- yeaaah, I don’t think I’ll be watching the fourth episode then cause I might just very well lose what’s left of my sanity.
    >_< End rant.

    • Yeah, this anime goes way too far, so I wouldn’t blame you if you dropped it. Have you watched other murder game anime like Mirai Nikki and Another?

      • I watched Another and really enjoyed it, even though some of the characters scared me in the last couple episodes xD
I haven’t watched Mirai Nikki yet, but I’m getting to that one soon.

        • Mirai Nikki can also get sexual at times, but not in the way that this anime does. The series is more brutal than anything.

            • It is much easier to watch than Dansai Bunri no Crime Edge. I actually enjoyed the Yandere stuff and the crazy stuff was pretty well written.
