Impression:

I really enjoyed what was going on in this episode. Thanks to the holidays we got a Thanks giving episode which, as we see in a lot of holiday specials, shed a light into the family lives of quite a few of our characters. First we get to see the third member of Ryan’s college crew when Amy, played by Lauren Graham, comes to town for a job interview. Amy was the one that got away for Ryan, but things get complicated when Steven shows an interest in her and Ryan offers for her to stay with him while she is town. In order to keep Amy and Steven from seeing each other alone Ryan decides to hold Thanksgiving at the office and he invites the group and some of his coworkers to enjoy the occasion. Some fun things happen we finally get to see Anne’s adopted son who is black and daughter that is Asian. To the chagrin of Anne, her son reveals that he listen’s to Ryan’s radio podcast, but that was not the only revelation to upset the evening. Mr. K disturbs everyone as usual, Steven and Ryan play some Booze Rodeo to decide who gets to make a move on Amy, and Lauren questions the way that Owen’s mom decides to raise her son. We can disregard the specifics on Mr. K because he is just generally creepy, but Booze Rodeo is important. Booze Rodeo is a college game invented by Ryan and Steven where you go around drinking the drinks of other people until you get punched. Ryan wins and has a serious talk with Amy where we find out that she has been waiting for Ryan, but refuses to be the first woman to follow Janie. Luckily things go well, but certain things were missed while the radio people were out. Everyone can tell that it was a poor move by Lauren to question the parenting of Owen’s mom. Things get really heated all around which is really the norm when it comes to the holidays, but Owen calms down the room. Owen lets his mom know that she will always be first, but the group is there for him and that is great. We get your very overdone group bonding after an incident and the episode cools down. Yolanda and Owen have a fun moment afterwards where they jam on some classical string instruments that their overbearing parents forced them to learn to play growing up which I really enjoyed.

I love Thanksgiving because it gives me a reason to eat more than usual and see my friends.

Current Opinion of the Show:

I am really enjoying this show and we got some good stuff out of the holiday special. I think the writers are doing a great job of keeping all of the recurring characters developed and I hope to see more from some of the other group members in episodes to come.
