Impression:
Life pretty much sucks right now. Recruit has lost his home, his normal life, and possibly his sanity. Even with their style of showing a lot of individual scenes as if it were a sketch comedy show at times, we are definitely getting a coherent story which is fantastic. We get to see Recruit finally meet a majority of the other residents which doesn’t really go too well. It seems like everyone is furious with the thought of Nino going out with someone, let alone the fact that it is someone who they do not know. Hoshi, a man with a star for a head that claims to be a star, is the most vocal about this because he is obviously in love with Nino. It seems like the only person that truly was willing to give Recruit a chance was Sister. As the resident nun and the person that runs the church, that is to be expected, but Sister is anything but what you would expect. Sister was once a part of the military and quite a legend at that, not to mention that Sister is also an extremely large man who brandishes about guns. Once again, I can only describe my feelings as a mix of confusion and joy. I really need to credit my friend Bryan, fellow author of this site TheCheckerKnights, for getting me into anime with ridiculous humor recently.
Current Opinion of the Show:
If you want to feel normal, watch this show. I have seen supernatural powers, stalkers, and giant robots, but I have never seen anything as ridiculous as the residents of this bridge community. Arakawa Under the Bridge has real impact and that is starting to make it pull away from other comedies I have watched. I don’t expect anything less than hilarious in episode three.
