Impression:

I have some very mixed feelings regarding this episode of Cuticle Tantei Inaba. I found it very interesting that they introduced two very important things in the story. First off we have the source of higher level secret doberman powers. The secret dobermen have power conditions that are the inverse of werewolves because they cannot use their powers during a full moon. However, the leader of Haruka’s group is a secret doberman that possessed the ability to separate his soul from his body on the night of a full moon. This lead to the police fearing his powers and a “wrongful imprisonment” that became the reason that the secret dobermen left the police force. Inaba wanted to know why that was special because he could always use his powers during a full moon. It turns out that Inaba and Haruka were born from artificial insemination and this man is their father. Well, all of that is actually pretty interesting when it comes to the progression of our plot, but I felt like they could have done more with it during this episode. They basically cut it off so that they could tell us that Ogi is thirty years old and that they could make a useless, yet adorable, short. You can’t win them all.

Apparently you can stop a perverted spirit with garlic spray.

Current Opinion of the Show:

I flip-flop on this series more than any other that I can remember. The plot that gets left on the back burner is worth far more exposure than it gets because the jokes feel like they are getting old to me. I can’t constantly see homosexuality and odd fetishes when you want me to sit through over twenty minutes worth of material. Even though the wolf family short was adorable, I am afraid that the writers will continue to take up time that could be used for a real story with stuff like this. I really need a full length series to feel like one because the plot is actually interesting. I am hoping for some real action in the next episode.
