Impression:

This episode was very serious in a good way. I would like to start off by once again questioning how the human armies can go against the demon armies without being annihilated. I mean, people like Yuusha and Onna Kishi are special, but the regular soldiers appear to be just that. When the assault began and I saw sharks flying out of the water and a giant squid demon on the offensive, I thought that there was now way you could win with a bunch of guys with spears. Well, it wouldn’t be a war if the battles were one-sided. The fight lingers and both sides prepare for a second assault, but the humans get some surprise reinforcements. Yuusha’s efforts to remove the corrupt humans from the demon world was successful as the only excuse their commander had for leaving was to aid in the efforts of the Winter Kingdom. The existing forces were surprised by this, but Yuusha teleports on in to give everyone an even bigger shock. Unfortunately, Maou misses her chance to greet Yuusha as he is immediately tackled by Onna Kishi. I would say that the love triangle was getting serious if it wasn’t for the fact that Yuusha and Maou were obviously in love and I don’t think that we will see much wavering in those feelings. The giant walrus general from the demons makes a last stand, but Onna Kishi shows off why she was able to travel with Yuusha by easily disposing of him. The battle ends with Maou gazing upon the bloody remains of this battle with a troubled stare as Yuusha comforts her. The two knew that they would see bloodshed, but I don’t think that Maou was completely prepared for that yet. Anyways, Onna Kishi and Maou received honors for their was efforts and Yuusha has finally come out of hiding. Things are starting to progress quite nicely.

That is a very intimidating creature.

Current Opinion of the Show:

I think that Maoyuu is really hitting its stride as a series. We are getting to see some full-scale battles and I was surprised by the quality of the action that we received. I am honestly not expecting much from what is obviously not an action series. There is that as well as the fact that Yuusha and Maou are starting to make some great progress on both ends. The two invading forces have been taken out of their respective strongholds, agricultural practices are being spread well throughout the land, and Yuusha is finally back. I am really excited to see what the next step in their plan is like now that Maou has the backing of the Winter King.
