Impression:

Eita really has a knack for rounding up the oddest girls possible. Natsukawa is the master of manipulation who appears to only want to be with Eita in order to escape unwanted attention. Chiwa seems like your normal childhood friend until you see her try to make Eita jealous or pull out a kendo stick. Himeka is stuck in a fantasy world where she channels experiences from her past life in which she fought wyverns alongside Eita’s past life. Did you think Ai was your typical strict girl? Well, she can’t seem to decide if she wants to be tsundere or not because her facade breaks down into uncontrollable elation every time Eita gives her the time of day. Did anyone else notice that the girl in Eita’s flashback had pink hair? It was dark, but you can see enough color to know that it was obviously Ai. I guess she must be the girl who asked him out in kindergarden. I am hoping that the fiance thing isn’t a child’s promise which would be even more disappointing than Himeka not being Eita’s actual ex-girlfriend. Oh well, who else thinks that Ai might be the best girl in the series? I mean, that stunt that Himeka pulled early on was pretty damn good and the way she was rolling around when Ai broke up the search for Eita was funny, but that is the big issue here. I don’t know who to root for. I have never gotten this far into a harem series without taking sides and it is gloriously aggravating. I can’t say for sure who will win which is something that not a lot of series can say for themselves. The one thing that I can say for sure at this point is that I feel bad for Kaoru. It must be pretty damn frustrating watching your best friend be this clueless when it comes to girls. I guess I can sympathize with him.

Watching fireworks together is one of the few romantic cliches that I actually like.

Current Opinion of the Show:

Oreshura is the kind of series that leaves you wanting more at the end of each episode for all the right reasons. As a series that really only functions by its romance, it does a really good job of being unpredictable. I can’t even begin to list all of the slice of life romances that I have watched where, starting at the second episode, I am just waiting for the inevitable pairing to happen. Have I mentioned that this is a strong harem before? Well, now that we have met Ai, that statement can finally be legitimized. I am really looking forward to the moment when Eita remembers that he met Ai in the past.
