Impression:
I kind of want to throw out what happened in the first half of this episode. We got our usual comedy that does nothing for the story. Yuuta and Noah team up again in order to try to kill Ogi. Yuuta fakes a kidnapping and everyone lives happily ever after because bad things rarely happen in a comedy. Now that is over, let’s get to the bright spot of this episode and possibly the entire series. Soumei takes over Ogi’s body when our favorite invincible cop tries to raid the Don’s house. Do any of you remember when Soumei could take over neither Kei nor Yuuta because their will was too strong? Well, I guess Ogi is all muscle and no spirit because they either threw away that mechanic or Ogi just isn’t as mentally tough as the assistants. Well, we learn that Soumei worked with Ogi’s grandfather in the police force before the falling out. There was too much corruption in the force and Soumei was given too much power over the secret dobermen. Supposedly, the crime that Soumei was “framed” for was actually a suicide by Ogi’s grandfather. Now, Soumei plans to kill Ogi in order to take out the biggest threat that is standing in the way of his evil scheme. Well, Inaba is not having any of that. Our hair-loving werewolf busted in with full force to stop this murder. The serious tone and interesting action that showed up in the second half of this episode made for something very infuriating. We get the shortest of glimpses at a good story only to be overrun with nonsense for the majority of the series. Talk about a waste.
Current Opinion of the Show:
I am angry with the writers of Cuticle Tantei Inaba. That is probably the most concise way to put my feelings into words. Watching bits and pieces of an actual story fly by makes me question the goal of this series. Is it meant to be funny? Well, I am no longer a fan of their humor. It has gotten stale and it is not enough to keep me around. Is it meant to be a detective series? Well, I have seen my fair share of detective series and they tackle actual mysteries. Is it meant to be an action series? That better not be it because that would mean that they failed. The first two aside, you can’t argue with the fact that this is not a good action series. I am going to watch the rest of this series, pending future seasons, because I have already gotten this far. I hope that this police corruption story doesn’t get tossed under the rug.
