Impression:

I would like to start this off by thanking the staff in charge of Maoyuu for handling the progression of agriculture, price jacking, and war in a manner that does not last as long as a Dragon Ball Z fight. The pacing of this show is extremely good because crops don’t grow overnight. For the most part this episode was very serious. The Winter King is struggling over what to do regarding the recent fallout with the Central Nations. Basically, making a new church and freeing the serfs was the answer. This is an attempt to become even more independent and cut ties with an imperialistic regime. Obviously, this angered the Central Nations, but it was the economic actions that threw things into chaos. Young Merchant has decided to jack up the price of wheat by hoarding the supply. This makes wheat prices skyrocket to a point that even affects other goods. This made people want goods from the Southern Nations due to their lower prices, but that could cripple their economy and force starvation. The answer is obviously tariffs, but that was the straw that broke the camel’s back. I am kind of confused at the moment because the price jacking that Young Merchant started has forced a war to break out between the Central and Southern Nations. Is he even on Maou’s side? We will see, but this new action is making for some great entertainment. On the other hand, Maou needs to come back like now. This is what happens when you leave people like this in charge of things.

When you have the supply, you make the price.

When you have the supply, you make the price.

Current Opinion of the Show:

Things are getting really intense with the war looming and Maou’s melding with the former demon kings. I guess I forgot to mention Maou. We learned that she has to let the former demon kings take over her mind and body, but she has chosen to let that happen in an unorthodox way that resulted in her being very weak. Her plan from the beginning was to enlist the aid of Yuusha. It seems sweet, but watching a seemingly teenage, even though she is much older than that, Maou looking lovingly at a baby was pretty creepy. We all knew that she was a lot older than Yuusha, but I would have rather not seen that. Oh well, you can’t take that back now. The ball has really gotten rolling now with Maou stuck in the chamber, Yuusha wanting to avoid the inevitable war, and Dragon Princess meeting with Young Merchant. I know that they are supposed to avoid conflict, but I kind of want to see Yuusha take out an entire army. That may be the shounen fan in me talking, but I don’t think it is an unpopular opinion. Hopefully, Maou will come back soon.
