Impression:

Damn, I look like a fool now. Well, I do, but for reasons that make no sense whatsoever. Let’s come back to this. Did you want to know what kind of powers come with losing your humanity to the new class of mech that was developed in a neutral country? Transferring your consciousness to another body while your actual body heals from mortal wounds is one of those powers. After being shot and whatnot, Haruto bit L-elf on the neck as the ending scene for the first episode. It turns out that the whole crazy blood cell thing transferred into L-elf which allowed Haruto and his friends to escape. Unfortunately, Dorssia did not simply attack that one city and the government of JIOR agreed to an unconditional surrender. So, while Haruto is having his out-of-body experience, the Dorssian army began to take hold of the satellite. It kind of sucks, but being a neutral nation during a major war never really works out. The United States eventually had to join World War II. Can I just mention something really quick. Jun Fukuyama is in this series. One of the best voice actors out there is voicing A-drei who seems to be Yzak from Gundam Seed. The dude has shoulder length, silver hair and he gets a face injury from the main character. Let’s stop for a second and take a nice look at this, as well as the fact that Daisuke Asakura has returned for another song, and drown in Gundam Seed nostalgia. Done yet? I was done before this series started. Haruto, in the highly skilled body of L-elf, takes back control of his own body and the mech. Apparently, a simple vampire style bite is all it takes to try on a new body. Well, Haruto fights the Dorssian army in space which gave us three things of note. The first is the odd mech design. I love the swords, but heating the engine to a point where the mech commits harakiri and goes super saiyan seems like a little much. If this was an American show, then I would say that we have a racist mech on our hands. I might even say that this is offensive knowing that I am watching an anime. Oh well, if I could get past G Gundam, then I can watch this. The next two things are less important to me, but they will probably end up being pretty important. This Saki girl wants it bad. She basically threw herself at Haruto after he won his fight. I think that her character is interesting because she knew to tie up L-elf before the body swap, but she obviously didn’t do a good job. The other is the fact that Shouko is alive. She ended up in the car with the guy she tried to save. Her not dying is what makes me look like an idiot, but I didn’t think she had the time for that before the explosion and I certainly don’t think that it is a good way to cheat death. That was pretty stupid in my opinion. Although, it seemed genius compared to how the episode ended.

I am upset, but I have seen worse death cheats. A good example would be Haruto's ridiculous ability.

Current Opinion of the Show:

I really don’t know how I feel about this series yet. Sure, the animation is great and I enjoy the fight scenes, but that isn’t enough to make me like a series. I need to see more of Haruto’s new body before I am convinced to not think that his out-of-body experience was dumb. Not dying and being a monster kind of go hand in hand, but I don’t know about this one. I will say this, it has started to grow on me as I am writing this article. I just hope that they do something cool with it like Haruto stealing bodies for covert missions and they don’t just pull it out every time they feel like killing him off. On the whole Yzak thing, I am actually happy that it happened. Not because I like to obvious idea recycling, but because I think that this will make A-drei an important character. I like this because, as an important character, A-drei’s screen time will result in more Jun Fukuyama. I guess the last thing that I need to mention, and it is negative, is the fact that I absolutely hate the line that Haruto used to close out the episode. Yes, I kind of expected Haruto to not confess his love properly. Yes, I thought that it would be because he is no longer human. Yes, I am even fine with that happening because I think that the addition of Saki as a love interest will spice things up. No, I am not fine with Haruto’s specific reason for not confessing his love. Go with: “How could she love a monster?” or “I can’t drag her into this.” For the love of God, do not go with: “Monsters don’t have feelings.” That better be a bad sub job that I encountered or I will forever label Haruto as a bitch. I don’t care what he does at this point because that was the least manly line in the history of anime. The mix of the line itself and its delivery made me want to drop this series right now. I have hated things over less in all honestly. However, I will give this series another shot. I am looking forward to less bitch-ass behavior.
