Impression:
Honestly I was not as impressed by this episode as I was the others. We had some interesting comedy when they introduced stress eating. Ryan had started to stress eat which is something that a lot of us have done in our lives. We end up getting to see more of how the group functions less like fellow crazies in therapy and more like a close support system when they all get together to help Ryan over his binge eating. Aside from that there are two side stories going on in this episode. First off there is Lauren’s boyfriend. The group is upset with the fact that Lauren is telling her boyfriend about them and they question the guy about Lauren for revenge. It was interesting and we learn that Lauren may not be as invested in the relationship as she should be, but I honestly cared about as much as Ryan usually cares about anything that doesn’t really concern him. Next you have Danny, played by Seth Morris, having more issues with his wife and her lover. Danny came back from military service to find out that his wife had cheated on him and had a baby that was not Danny’s while he was away. The story in and of itself is sad and a worthy loss to make Danny a part of the group, but I really do not like his specific coping method. Danny is still living with his wife, the baby, and his wife’s boyfriend and Danny just acts like nothing is wrong. Avoiding the issue is a common way people cope with issues, but the extreme case displayed in the show irritates me. I am very against the idea of staying with something that does no good for yourself and considering the fact that the baby is not his, Danny has little reason to stick around. The argument against my feelings is the fact that this is a show that is trying to display loss in an extreme fashion, but that does not change the fact that the whole thing kind of pisses me off.
Current Opinion of the Show:
I am a little disappointed with the quality of this episode in comparison to the rapid improvement that Go On has shown prior to this installment. I still like the show and will continue to watch it, but I need to see more in the next episode to want to stick around.
