Yozakura Quartet has had an interesting history with its anime adaptations. The manga series received an adaptation back in 2008 that was met with mixed reviews due to its unfaithfulness to the source material. The series was then turned into a 3 episode OVA series, Yozakura Quartet: Hoshi no Umi, in 2010 that goes back to retell the story according to the manga. Now, the the series will receive ANOTHER adaptation, which is apparently not a sequel but yet another return to the beginning to faithfully reproduce the plot along with some original content.

I really want to get into this series because I like the character designs (same as Durarara!!), and it has an interesting setting and plot. It revolves around four teenagers: a superheroine, a nekomimi telepath, a conjurer, and a normal boy, who work together to protect the town of Sakurashin. The only thing that’s off-putting is the mixed reviews about its method of adaptation. Hopefully, this new series will create a “definitive” version that will be worth watching.
