Impression:
This entire episode was frustratingly boring in my opinion. The entire twelve minutes was spent on Muromi being irrationally angry at whales and dolphins because her ex-boyfriend was a jerk. I guess it will make more sense when I tell you that her ex-boyfriend was an aquatic mammal that gave up on evolving into a land based animal and ditch her for some new girl. I guess that Muromi being old enough to date during the Mesozoic Era is just going to be a thing. Hii-chan is a female mermaid that considers herself Muromi’s younger sister and she loves whales and dolphins. This made the focus of the episode Hii-chan trying to get Muromi over her hatred of these mammals. I can’t even recall how many times that Muromi was pissed off at the fact that toothed whales evolved to have lungs. Don’t mermaids have lungs? If not, I have no idea how they hang out on the pier. I think the thing that pissed me off the most was the fact that they kept talking about how nice dolphins are. Those guys are assholes. They kill sharks for fun and they pull people down into rape caves with their opposable penises. People die because of those lustful bastards and I will not hear them being praised. Takkun ended up not being a big part of this episode, but I don’t think that he would have really helped it.
Current Opinion of the Show:
I am having trouble watching this series. I want to say that this episode was either a misstep or that it just didn’t appeal to me, but I feel that this is the direction that the series is taking. I could be wrong and I am probably just biased against an episode that talks up dolphins as good guys. My bias is only overshadowed by the one that Muromi has. Given, they scientifically disproved Muromi’s bias, but that did not change her opinion. The art isn’t getting any better and I am a little worried about substance. I am kind of glad that the episodes are only twelve minutes long because I don’t know how attention grabbing this series can be. As of now, I don’t think that this series would function well with full length episodes. Oh well, negativity aside, I am looking forward to seeing more of this series. The old age jokes are actually kind of funny.
