Impression:

I am tired of caring about when the episodes for this series come out. The high quality episodes come out on either Thursday or Friday for those of you that don’t like looking at blobs, but Sunday has that advanced release for impatient people like me. As a word of warning, check things out regardless of which day you choose to watch the new episodes. Not all of the sites and players update and you could end up wasting four to five days of waiting because of old videos. I could still be wrong about this because I am starting to confuse myself, but I think that is correct. Onto the actual episode, we basically got what should have been expected. Touka and Origami are fighting over Shidou at school. They made him cookies and they eat lunch with him. I guess what wasn’t all that expected was the level of yandere power that resides in Origami. Sniffing Shidou’s gym uniform was weird, but knowing when, where, and what purpose Shidou makes a purchase is scary to say the least. I guess it helps keep Origami relevant now that Touka is living at Shidou’s place. Yeah, we all saw that one coming. Throwing out that declaration of support means that you have to take responsibility. Aside from the “accidental” intrusions on Touka in the bathroom, Shidou actually had some serious stuff to handle at the house. Apparently, Shidou can steal a Spirit’s power by kissing them. A little odd, but it gives kisses a practical importance. Unfortunately, all of the Shidou x Touka fans out there may be a little disappointed by what went down in this episode. Even though it seems like we just met Touka, Shidou has another Spirit that needs courting on his hands. Yoshinon is a very quiet girl who speaks through a hand puppet. Oh, do you remember that thing I said about kisses sealing powers? Well, that isn’t really the case. Hey, don’t call me a liar. This is how things went down in the show. Touka regained her powers when she went after Shidou and caught him talking to the new girl. The dude is a cheater. Obviously, it is difficult to woo a young lady when you have another one yelling at you and strangling puppets, so things go south. Yoshinon summons some demon rabbit with ice powers and gets the hell out of there. I guess that being forced to make multiple girls fall in love with you can be a little complicated.

I want some cookies right now.

Current Opinion of the Show:

I have some very mixed feelings regarding this series right now. Let’s start with what is going on between Shidou and the girls. I am actually a fan of this as an independent thing. We get the romantic comedy stuff at the school with Touka and Origami fighting over Shidou. It is pretty funny and the only complaint that I have right now in that regard is the fact that there isn’t enough Origami in this series. The yandere thing can be hilarious if it is handled correctly and I am really liking her character. A complaint that I do have is the very crowded feeling that the growing harem is giving off. I know what you are thinking. Aren’t all harems crowded? That is true, but I don’t like the pacing that we have been getting. I feel like we are going to get character specific arcs that will lack proper development as we move forward. Touka basically got Shidou to herself because they haven’t made Origami a big deal yet. However, Yoshinon’s time is already being invaded by Touka. Normally, introductions don’t take that long and we get a lot of romantic development after we get to know the girls. However, the dates that are getting thrown out there have really tossed out the standard harem pacing. It is not bad to try new things, but I am a little concerned about how things are being executed at this point in time. Time will tell. When it comes to the characters themselves, I am actually pretty pleased. I like the personalities that have been given to the girls that are going after Shidou, which is important because they will get a bulk of the lines, but that isn’t all. I don’t hate Shidou yet and I find the side characters to be pretty interesting. The protagonist and side characters being likable in a harem anime is very important to me. I love the trio of judgmental girls and Tonomachi because they provide some nice comic relief. My last complaint is probably all of the up skirt shots that we get with the sister. She is a little girl and the sister character. Two big reasons to not have up skirt shots. I say that, but I never really liked those angles to begin with. I find them to be unnecessary and kind of creepy. Overall, I would say that I do enjoy this series, but I wouldn’t call it fantastic. There is room for growth, but that is not a bad thing because we are only four episodes in. I just hope that there is a way for Shidou to do his job without being called out for cheating all of the time because that does bother me.
