Impression:
It is time. The pointless recap episode is behind us and the next big arc in the series has arrived. Since the new anime season just started, Mushibugyou has become my most anticipated series for this week. Not only because it is established, but because things are really starting to pick up. Well, let’s get to it.
That Sasuke guy has been destroying villages on his way to Edo. Jinbei rushes back to stop the carnage and witnesses the aftermath of multiple massacres. Meanwhile, the idiotic shrine leader is talking down to Kotori. All of the city patrol members have left and they are treating Kotori’s group like they are worthless. I don’t know what that guy is smoking because his group was the useless one when they had to save the Mushibugyou. He didn’t even get to Hachijo Island. Well, Sasuke ends up destroying the shrine guys and the samurai guard, so Jinbei has to save the day. I was very sad that they disregarded Kotori because I am pretty sure that he would have handled the situation with ease. His hidden fight in the last arc has me very curious. Apparently, Sasuke knows some crazy ninjutsu that allows him to multiply when cut like a hydra. I can’t tell you how frustrating it is to watch a character continue to help the enemy multiply. Even though Jinbei was doing well, the number become overwhelming. It sure is a good thing that everyone else is back as well.
It turns out that everyone else left to train as well. I don’t know how much one can get done in three days, but this is an anime with giant bugs and stuff running around. Questioning it just makes me look like a fool. Everyone works together and Jinbei is able to take them out with his Fuji Hammer attack. You have to take out the heads to kill the guy and that makes sense. The interesting thing is the fact that Kotori knows about what is going on with the insect men. As far as we know, only Kotori and the Shogun know about what is going on right now. Well, that and possibly Ieshige from his raiding of the archives. I wonder how they know about this and everyone else even around Edo has been left in the dark. Something as crazy as the insect men should probably be causing a stir in Japan. I blame a lack of social media. At least the first assault was handled and the shrine guys can shut the fuck up about the city patrol being useless.
Current Opinion of the Show:
I am way too excited about this arc. Things are really picking up and the action promises to keep getting better. I am glad that there was a training arc to handle the new foes, but the three days thing is a little much to take in. Especially because of travel time during the Edo period. There are a lot of questions up in the air right now. Did they really kill all of the Sasukes? I think not because I think one will make it back to report his failures. The way they handled that fight was interesting. Instead of coming to a random conclusion regarding the heads and suddenly being able to win, there were examples of death from random head strikes with some of the clones. Finding a win condition actually made sense this time around. Will Kotori and the Shogun share their information with everyone? I actually think that they will because the fight is on at this point in time. Will Jinbei’s dad fight as well? I actually don’t know. It would be nice though.
I know that they sent him away, but that was a bad move on Kotori’s part. He knows about the new enemies, so he should have stayed. Fuck the shrine guys. I am really excited to see where the arc goes from here. I anticipate some major battles ahead and more screen time for the Mushibugyou. I really like her character and I kind of need her to interact with Jinbei more. I can’t be the only one that wants to see that happen. My shipping rankings have shifted with the recent events and I can’t have Mitsuki number one if she isn’t in the story anymore. I think that this episode had a lot of pay off after what I had to sit through last week. I want to be done with recap episodes because I find them to be a waste of time. Oh well, more fighting is sure to come and I am way too pumped for more Mushibugyou.
