Impression:

We were definitely not done meeting mythical creatures. The feature of this episode was a Kappa that is friend’s with Muromi. The guy is one of those quiet and serious types, which does not sit well with Takkun after he threatens him. Well, anyone would hate some humans if their brother was killed and mummified. Although, that mummy is being kept as a religious item, so it will cause some mixed feelings. The weird stuff really started when Muromi, the Kappa, and a Tsuchinoko got together to pick a bunch of poisonous mushrooms. At first, it seemed like they were picking them so that people would not mistakenly eat them and get sick. However, that illusion was dispelled when they cooked said mushrooms and got high off of them. Yes, the poisonous mushrooms have a bit of a different effect on mythological creatures according to this anime. I actually found that decently funny. What happened afterwards just seemed stupid. The Kappa came to the pier and a very awkward conversation, that consisted mostly of silence, ensued. It turns out that the guy hates most humans, but he likes Takkun. Kind of a common theme in this series. Oh well, the cucumber harvest was not used in the way that vegetables were intended to be used.

Get your mind out of the gutter.

Current Opinion of the Show:

I really wanted to enjoy this episode. Honestly, I decided to let the initial sexual stuff slide because I found the poisonous mushroom gag to be decently entertaining. We haven’t really gotten a good drug joke yet. Then, they decided that they should dedicate the last part of the episode to having the mermaids give cucumbers hand jobs. I was not a fan of that. I feel like most jokes like that, when executed in the way that they were, are cheap and unnecessary. Although, I did like the way that they drew the Kappa. Honestly, I hate the way that they draw everything else. Humans, Mermaids, and other mythological creatures just look oddly shaped. However, they can draw a kappa well. Did they blow their entire budget on drawing him? I am just getting tired of looking at the heads in this anime. I don’t even know what I should be looking forward to in the upcoming episode.
