Impression:

People change overtime. We are often products of our environment and that can be both good and bad. If we grew up never having known what this world has to offer, than we would not know how to react when we find ourselves enjoying something completely foreign to us. I am not talking about discovering your sexuality, I am talking about Scar’s struggle with her role in this world.

What a cute family.

The quest to find Scar has begun. Celica called out to her once and she is leading the way on this journey. Yuri, Ai, Dee, Celica, and Alis have set off to wherever the baby is pointing to. Where are the Gola Academy students? They are all temporarily staying at Tanya’s place. Her parents welcomed their daughter back with open arms and the students will stay their until they start their own journeys. Well, what would a trip be without an impromptu celebration? They missed a special birthday by twenty-four hours. Alis just turned sixteen, but birthdays are not on his mind. Alis wants to destroy his world to save the people who live inside of it. His classmates are still being held captive. That is a story for another day. Today, the gang goes to the birthplace of the gravekeepers. Apparently, lighting strikes in a wasteland area filled with crystals and gravekeepers are spawned. I would like an explanation, but something that ridiculous can be taken at face value. Scar came back to the place of her birth because Celica is making her feel odd. Gravekeepers are meant to assist the living. However, gravekeepers aren’t supposed to cry either. Yuri convinced Scar that she can be whatever she wants to be and that he will protect her. Someone found himself a new family.

Say hello to the birthday boy.

Current Opinion of that Show:

I do believe that this is my favorite series from the Summer 2013 Anime Season. It has taken a while because a lot of cool things came out this season, but I have finally decided on a favorite. Why is that? Well, it is obviously the very intelligent and philosophical nature of the show. Also, there are very interesting situations that have been brought about by the chaos in the series. Alis wants to destroy his world and save those that have been held captive in it. I am going to assume that he meant that when he was talking about saving the world by destroying it. Shattering his initial subjective world. I really want to know more about this. What forced the students in his class to be held captive? How did Alis escape? How do they plan on saving these people? I mean, Yuri can use a gun and Scar is a gravekeeper, but I don’t know how this is going to go. Alis is an asset with his perfect aim and Dee can use her spirit powers to check things out, but Ai seems like the ultimate liability when it comes to any kind of serious plan. She is naïve, loud, and has no special abilities outside of laying the dead to rest. Oh well, we will see how that works out. Ulla and Kiriko are sure to get a good laugh out of the letters.

Lightning makes things cool.

Scar’s emotional journey is a pretty interesting one. Did any of you watch Darker than Black? It somewhat reminds me of the way that Yin was changing in that series, but to a much smaller degree. I am interested to see how this is going to play out. I speak very highly of this series, but is there anything that I don’t like about it? I would like to know where they are getting all of these supplies from. As far as currency goes, I assume that it exists. People are sold, but a universal one must be tough to come by. I will just assume that it is gold. Looting for things like food is fine, but the gasoline gets to me. I don’t care if that is a five speed, they are using a lot of gas. Even if they are looting properly, getting gas must be tough. I will say that they are handling the cooking well though. It makes a lot of sense for them to be eating things like stews. Also, the imperfections in that cake reflect the circumstances of its baking. That was handled pretty well in my opinion. I guess that they won’t waste time talking about currency and supply gathering, but it does get to me at times. As long as they never bring it up, I will accept it as just another thing.

This is a beautiful series.
