Episode 04 – “Snow Gift”
I’m sad that they didn’t do more with that music at the end of the first Galileo clue, but I guess that can’t be helped. It’s unfortunate that the clues so far seem to be a bit arbitrary, with little importance, but maybe that will change in the future when they’re all assembled. That’s a general thing about this series that’s been bothering me a bit lately. The fact that they don’t really explain much of anything, and we just have to roll with it.
The biggest offender is the micro doctor, which the sisters use to heal Hozuki. Now, I can buy Hozuki surviving the fall, but I expect broken bones. So unless the micro doctor produced something that cured broken bones, I don’t know what to think. For me, things never have to make sense in anime, when compared to real life. But I like it anime at least give an explanation for why they think things should work the way they do, even if it’s impossible by reality’s perspective.
Another thing I wasn’t really happy with was how they handled Kazuki’s development. Her change of heart felt a little too easy, doing a 180 on the turn of a dime. I started to like her more as a character, and I wanted to see a little more reasoning behind her switch being flipped. This is probably not the time, but I just wanted to mention that I really like Kazuki’s outfit. I’m also really upset that they threw their new clothes at the Ganymede guys. That whole sequence felt like it was pulled out of a Western movie. How many times have I seen kids being chased by a bunch of bozos? It was pretty neat to see an animated version of it.
Maybe I’m being too hard on the series. After all, there were things that I did like about this episode, mostly seeing more of the Galileo in action against the Black Ganymede. We also learn that Cicinho is actually a honorable guy, letting the sisters go after learning about Hozuki’s injury. I can totally see them teaming up in the end, as well as he and Hazuki (Bambina) hooking up. That’d be pretty neat. Hopefully the next few episodes will get this series back on track because I don’t want to not like it.
