Episode 05 – “I Can’t Be My Little Sister’s Boyfriend and My Little Can’t Have a Boyfriend”
This is the episode in which we get to precariously live out the scenario in which Kirino and Kyousuke actually date. Of course, this is all a ruse to fool a model agent who wishes to send Kirino to do work overseas. As we know from experience, she can’t survive without her Japanese commercial goods.
While the whole relationship is supposed to a pretend game, things kind of get a bit too real for the two, especially when they go on a fake date and run into the likes of Manami and Kuroneko. The brother-sister duo really have to lay on the juice, just in the agent is watching from the shadows. Seriously, who would have time to do that (even though it happens in every romcom ever)?
With the awkward date farce over, Kyousuke “breaks up” with Kirino by telling her that he’ll never go on a fake date with her again. She kind of takes this personally and tells him that next time she’ll bring her real boyfriend. This gets Kyousuke thinking a little and possibly even jealous and overprotective. I know if I had a little sister, I’d probably freak out when she started dating. But man, it’s one misunderstanding after another for these kids.
Summer Comiket rolls around, and Kuroneko thinks up a doujin project to sell. It involves the entire new circle of friends for the first time: her, Saori, Kirino, and Kyousuke. Despite a slow start, their book eventually sells out. I can only imagine what it feels like to watch a bunch of people flip through your book only to put it down without buying it. It’s tough putting yourself out there like that, and I’m glad that things worked out this time. Kuroneko mentions that she was left with 90% of her books at the end of the last Comiket. There’s also a nice little moment between her and Kyousuke, which may have made Kirino jealous a little.
At the end, a mysterious man reveals himself and apparently Kirino knows who he is. Could this be the fabled boyfriend of legend? Find out next week!
B.W.
I’m not so sure about this show but I was wondering like is Kirino Kyousuke’s sister?
Yes, they are siblings, and the romantic undertones can understandably be uncomfortable for some people. But, as far as what happens in the series, the feelings between Kirino and Kyousuke remain platonic.
Oh I didn’t know that. I wastched some of it, but then I thought that Ayase was the sister.
Yeah, I think I thought that too before. It’s confusing because Kirino actually dyed her hair.
Ohhh really didn’t know that. But it suits her more with orange hair.
