What did I expect from the second episode of Yu-Sibu? More romantic comedy stuff. I am not sure about an actual story here, so I am mostly watching it for that. The ridiculous nature of the world is nice and all, but that is the romantic comedy stuff is my focus. Luckily, they kept the horrible breast physics to a minimum this time around.
The episode started off exactly how you would expect it to. Raul goes into the staff room to start the day and he finds an almost naked Phino lying on the sofa. That will happen when you live at your workplace. Things settled down almost immediately because Phino doesn’t get freaked out by stuff like that, but Raul was clearly shaken up. The rest of the episode had the two workers as the focus. They were supposed to get scolded for breaking the hair dryer, but the assistant manager blamed the explosion on a manufacturer’s error. Did they forget about the damage to the staff room? Raul helped Phino learn the eight necessary phrases for customer service and some notes on her hand were necessary for this endeavor. Along the way, Raul runs into his old rival from school. Airi is appalled by the fact that Raul took a regular job and that starts to get to Raul. The idea of following your dreams is a big focus in this episode. Oh yeah, and Phino stopped a thief on accident. Being the daughter of the demon lord and an almost hero come in handy in such situations.
Current Opinion of the Show:
I really like where this series is headed. We are getting that classic situation that has the protagonist and his main love interest living next to each other. That is right, Phino has moved out of the staff room and into an apartment next to Raul’s. That is sure to heat up the romance. I also appreciate the fact that the writers were able to give us a good amount of romance without throwing the ridiculous breast physics at us. I almost forgot how bad things were. Well, it almost seemed as though we had a straight shot to the Raul and Phino route. That was until Airi showed up. MyAnimeList tells me that she is going to be a main character and it is pretty obvious that she will be a love interest. I am not against that. It’s not like I am already to attached to the idea of Raul being with Phino or anything like that. I am interested to see what she is like. The opening suggests that Airi may be working at a casino or something like that. The bunny costume is often associated with casinos in anime.
I don’t think that there is anything too negative for me to say about this series right now. Sure, I would like it if the girls were drawn in a more anatomically accurate fashion, but we would need to change anime culture to get anything started in that regard. The story is interesting, the comedy is funny, and the romance is endearing. Do I think that this will be one of the best series to come out this year? I don’t even think that this is one of the best series to come out this season. That is not a knock because we are in the middle of a fantastic season of anime right now. It just seems like this is going to be an above average series that will gain a nice fan base due to its unique story and moé characters. That is definitely not a bad thing. I have watched plenty of series that show less potential. I will say this though. I had similar feelings regarding Hataraku Maou-sama! during its early stages. I hate to say that because comparing things is a bad idea and comparing things to great things is even worse. Let’s just say that I am really looking forward to more from this series.
